Looking Over the New Lanai Staterooms
The new Lanai Staterooms recently installed on Veendam feature a sliding glass door that opens onto the wrap-around exterior promenade deck. The doors automatically close when the doorway is clear — much like an elevator. For those concerned about privacy, the doors are mirrored.

The lanai door has its own key that is separate from the stateroom key that is also a charge card and ID. When we visited the ship, they had just received a shipment of brand-new teak deck chairs that were still in their boxes.

Stories from the sea, past and present

Amazing job. What an improvement over a basic outside cabin. I guess it is too early to see how these play out, but it sure feels like someone had a brilliant marketing idea when they came up with this.
Is there any way that you could post a before and after of these cabins?
Lovely, and we are looking forward to this in January, 2011! It’s great that the privacy factor is an integral part of the design. What about noise? Have the doors/windows been adequately soundproofed? Have had cabins on lower prom before and we do hear some noise from passersby. Just curious! Thanks.
