Interesting. 114 years ago the second Rotterdam was the first commercial vessel that uses the Canal. She sailed direct behind the German Royal Yacht after the German Emperor opened the Canal on June 21 1895.
My step-daughter told me it was an old ship. What she didn’t tell me was that when her sister (my daughter) lost her life on December 2, 2009; and that she and her mother had to leave, in their grief, to Fort Lauderdale, that the ship she was refurbishing was the Rotterdam. They said it was good therepy. I will look at it, now, as my therepy.
