Former HAL CEO Hosts Shore Excursion for Crew
Former HAL CEO Kirk Lanterman and his wife Janet have been sailing aboard the Westerdam this week experiencing the incredible sights of Alaska and warm hospitality of our crew.
Generously, Mr. and Mrs. Lanterman offered to provide and host a special Shore Excursion for our hard-working team. Eighty crewmembers were excited to sail onboard our privately-chartered catamaran throughout Sitka Sound. On this tour we were greeted by Alaska’s wildlife including dozens of playful sea otters, some lazy harbor seals, numerous bald eagles, a couple humpback whales and even a bear family! Before boarding, Mr. Lanterman was asked if he was excited to go see the sea otters. He responded simply “I’m actually most looking forward to spending time with our crew.” This feeling was mutual as our team took advantage of the unique opportunity to relax and experience an exceptional morning side-by-side with the Lanterman’s.
Tim Krabill is Westerdam’s human resources manager.

Stories from the sea, past and present

What a generous offer from the Lantermans. How many crews get to enjoy such a treat? Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Lanterman for such kindness and expression of appreciation for “your people.” (o.k. – perhaps your “former” people, but it is clear you still have a great attachment.
It was so much fun seeing sea lions, and otters and bears, o my! (I’m on the edge cut out of the picture
) And don’t forget the huge box of snacks they provided for us as well!!!!! Thank you so much Mr. & Mrs. Lanterman!
