Veendam’s First Five-Star Mariner
We would like to welcome the first 5-star mariner on board ms Veendam, Mrs. Susana Bockmann from Buenos Aires. Captain Peter Bos presented Mrs. Bockmann with a new key card which reflects her new status while on her Antarctica Holiday Cruise.
Bert van Mackelenbergh is Veendam’s hotel director.

Stories from the sea, past and present

Bonjour / Hello to All:
My heartfelt congratualtions go out to Mrs Susana Brockmann for reaching this new 5 star Mariner Society membership level while on board the lovely ms Veendam. And the fact that both Captain Peter Bos and Hotel Director Bert Van Mackelenbergh were part of the official ceremony must have made it memorable.
A while ago on this Holland America Blog there was a discussion about the large number of repeat guests/Mariner Society members attending the special luncheon on a particular sailing that had reached 4 Star levels. I recall having made a passing reference to the fact that since Holland America was and is a
5 Star fleet, with 5 Star Service, it seemed only natural that maybe at some future point a 5 Star Mariner membership might be in order. It seems this has now become a fact.
Bravo to Holland America, to its Mariner Society, and especially to all the long time guests of Holland America that have reached this new 5 star level.
Many Bon Voyages
Alexander
Goodbye Captain Bos! It looks like you’ve left the m.s.Volendam for the m.s.Veendam! I will miss you peeking around the corner of the bridge window facing the stern
But, fortunately it seems that Captain Baijens has gone to the same school as you have … Many thanks Bert v.M. for posting this photo so I won’t be too shocked next Alaska season.
