Kudos for HAL and Westerdam
Although we sailed our first ever cruise on the Westerdam in July 2010, we had not sailed since then until we cruised on a competitor last month. Unfortunately, Holland America HAS SPOILED US FOR LIFE! Our standards for cruising were set by you and until now, we did not realize how high YOUR standards are!
This most recent cruise on a competitor cruise line left us comparing things which we took for granted when on the Westerdam. The classic wooden deck chairs and solid wood decks seem like small things to many, but are only now appreciated when one has been on another cruise line that lacks the attention to detail and appreciation for class that Holland America has.
I would like to take this belated opportunity to thank Holland America Line for setting a standard for us; and I sincerely hope we will have the opportunity to cruise on your line again one day. I know South Africa is very rarely frequented by any of your liners; but my wife and I frequently look at your website and your cruise calendars and remember the fantastic time aboard the Westerdam and dream of having another opportunity to cruise with Holland America.

So pleased to read about your pleasant cruise on HAL Westerdam. My late wife and I had to pleasure of doing three cruises on an opposition line , the line was in the same stable as HAL , and I will be doing my first cruise in March this year with HAL on Amsterdam from Hong Kong to cape Town and I am really looking forward to the experience.
