Sailors Get Certified On Board Nieuw Amsterdam
On January 18th several of Nieuw Amsterdam‘s crew completed a 12-day Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) course. The course is 35 hours of on board theoretical and practical training and assessments in lifeboats and life rafts operations, as well as sea survival techniques and first aid. All the participants are now certified to take command of a lifeboat or life raft in an emergency situation and also to progress into tender driving training. According to the group, the highlight of the course was the swimming pool session held on the aft lido pool which included righting an overturned life-raft and donning a survival suit. Great job guys!

Stories from the sea, past and present

2nd Officer Hunt,
What are the Rank structures on board a HAL Ship. I read in your post that most who attended the PSCRB course were “Sailor AB” with the exception of Sailor OS Sitindaon. Being an Officer in the USAF, the Rank titles caught my eye and I became curios enough to ask.
