Holland America Line has announced relief support details for the Philippines in the wake of the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan.

A pledge of $1 million or more from Holland America Line’s parent company Carnival Corporation & plc, along with the Miami HEAT basketball team, will support relief efforts in communities affected by the disaster. More information is available here: http://bit.ly/1gHl20c.

Loyal cruisers and HAL fans who are interested in making a donation through Holland America Line to support the Philippines Relief effort can find more details here: http://bit.ly/17ni6gZ.

In addition to financial support, we are working closely with business colleagues in Manila — the capital of the Philippines — to gather and provide information to our crew, contact relatives and loved ones, and to support individual requests and situations as they develop.

The outpouring of support for the dedicated officers and crew of Holland America Line is greatly appreciated. As relief efforts take hold on a local and global scale, our thoughts and prayers continue to be with our Filipino crew and officers, their loved ones and the entire country of the Philippines.

  1. Having enjoyed the many Filipino members on the cruise staff, we disembarked from our cruise on November 10 not knowing about the typhoon. We are saddened by this tragedy and would like to express our concern for them as they deal with the ramifications for themselves and their families and friends.

  2. The Typhoon struck while we were on a Caribbean Cruise aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam. Filipino members of the staff were affected by the damage. Within a day the Cruise Line announced the fund and we were able to contribute. I congratulate HAL for their prompt and humane response to a very difficult time for some of the members of the staff on board.
