Recently aboard Zaandam, the newly hired crew members, along with the recipients of service awards, came together during our new hires & service awards coffee-chat. Senior staff, managers and supervisors were on hand to present service awards to our dedicated and hardworking crew members, all the while giving encouraging words to our newly hired crew members.

In order to enhance the Hawaiian experience for our guests, Hotel Director Cees Tesselaar chose and purchased material in Hawaii and the tailors on board the Zaandam made shirts for all the various departments. This pictures shows each department with their “own style” shirt.

Indonesian music filled the air as a few of Zaandam’s Indonesian crew members took to the stage in the crew living room during a recent jam session. Fellow crew members enjoyed a night of great music and camaraderie among the rest of the crew.

During Zaandam’s recent call at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the crew members were treated to a delightful barbecue on the bow of the ship. With the blue skies and amazing weather, the crew members were able to enjoy a Zaandam-style family “makan” (family meal in Bahasa) where they were able to sit, relax and enjoy some delicious cooking from our amazing culinary team on board.

A great opportunity for crew members aboard Zaandam is the chance to enjoy one of the most amazing ports in Mexico — Cabo San Lucas. During a recent call, eight crew members enhanced their visit by swimming with dolphins on a crew tour I organized. The crew commented that the experience was unique and enjoyable, and appreciated being able to interact with these amazing creatures. At the end of the day, after a beautifully sunny and hot day, the crew members returned to the ship with their energy level at maximum, recharged and ready to deliver outstanding service to our guests.
