Recently the Eurodam held its new-hire coffee chat in the upper dining room to welcome our new hires to the company. The dining room staff did an outstanding job serving coffee and pastries to the new crew and the chef made a delicious cake.

HAL guest Ernie Wood sent us this note and cool photo from his recent Kayak Tour at Geiranger fjord during his cruise aboard Eurodam. During this shore excursion, guest can experience the natural beauty of Geiranger Fjord while paddling along the steep fjord walls—no kayaking experience required.

We had a terrific time on the Eurodam last week, cruising from Dover to Norway, down to Scotland and back to Dover. We love going to those places that are best accessed by water – like the fjords of Norway. Here’s a photo of Laura kayaking in Geiranger, Norway.

My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner in the Tamarind when we cruised aboard the Eurodam in October of 2009. Searching for a quiet, elegant evening for the two of us, we chose to dine at the Tamarind during the first formal night. I love cruising with Holland America because of the wonderful service, but the entire staff in the Tamarind took that service to a new level of excellence. The atmosphere is so peaceful and welcoming. The food was wonderful too! I highly recommend anyone cruising aboard the Eurodam or the Nieuw Amsterdam to make reservations at the Tamarind. Maasdam’s shore excursions manager Joe sent us this note and photo from his recent tour of the Cape Breton Miners Museum in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

During The Black Gold: A Cape Breton Mine Experience retired coal miners guide guests on an interactive tour of the Ocean Deeps Colliery, an underground coal mine located beneath the museum, where they experience the grueling task of extracting coal from an actual mine.

Here is an interesting photo for you. No spectacular scenery or views from the top of the Eiffel Tower – this is me and my new assistant Emily. We are several hundred feet underground in the famous Cape Breton Miners Museum at Sydney, Nova Scotia.
